Pandora’s was founded in Santa Fe by two local women at the turn of the millennium. The idea was to deal in functional art, the art of life– what one lives in, sleeps in and wraps around one’s shoulders on a chilly day. Fourteen years later, Pandora’s still draws inspiration from an artistically driven community. The shop is located in Sanbusco Center, a refurbished warehouse from the horse and buggy days a few blocks from the historic downtown plaza.
In Pandora’s owner, Barbara Lenihan’s words:
We feature textiles developed by New Mexican artists and carefully chosen artisan communities around the world. I love seeing creations from strange lands interwoven with the native traditions of Indian, Hispanic and Anglo New Mexico. Globalizing should never mean homogenizing–we encourage artisans to create something new and beautiful. Unique blends of fabrics on our shelves are a testament to Pandora’s philosophy. Please share in our vision and enjoy the fruits of a small-scale, culturally respectful enterprise.
The products in our catalog are divided into three categories that reflect the development of Pandora’s for over a decade. Our Featured Designers offer conventional western bedding and bath products of the highest quality and sophistication. Our World Collection is visually stunning assortment of pieces from the Americas and Eurasia. Our Artisans and Co-ops represent sustainable relationships we’ve developed with specific individuals and communities in the US and abroad.
