These throws and pillows were sourced by our international buyer, Maite Ormaechea, from a cooperative of women artisans in her home country of Uruguay. The co-op operates out of the homes of its members who live in the interior department of Durazno, located in the heart of the Uruguayan grasslands or campos. The co-op manages all stages of the production process from yarn spinning through yarn dying to weaving a final product. By buying directly from these producers Pandora’s is able to cut-out intermediaries and thereby ensure a fair price for the producers and consumers alike. The yarn in these throws and pillows is hand-spun sheep’s wool. The colors are dyed from natural vegetables including beet (red), yerba mate (green), orange peel (orange), and walnut shell (light brown).
